    Denver cuts Kennedy

Denver also parted ways with defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy, whom the team acquired from the St. Louis Rams on June 8. Kennedy was listed on the second team throughout training camp and rotated in with the first unit on occasion during the camp practices and preseason games.

    From the Colorado Springs Gazette:
The Broncos had to cut down to 53 players Saturday. Defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy, a former first-round pick of the St. Louis Rams who Denver acquired in a trade this offseason, also left the team headquarters before a team meeting, but he didnít stop to answer questions.

LOL. Guess the Broncos weren't using him right either, or maybe he got in trouble for making too many plays.

    Re: Denver cuts Kennedy

I'm a little torn. Part of me feels vindicated for cutting him loose; the other part is a little embarrassed at how recently we were starting guys like Kennedy who couldn't make the roster of another team. But mostly, I just think it's funny.

Again it says to me our staff is doing the right moves, some on the board thought that was nuts to trade him. Bulter is another.

Another player who had a greater opinion of his natural ability than his own work ethic. Guys like this I have no sympathy for.

"Once you get used to being in a system and just hearing negative criticism all the time you tend to lose your edge. I'm confident. I know I can do it. But it's about having that swagger of knowing I'm wanted around here. That's rare.

"(In St. Louis) I didn't feel beaten down as much as I felt I wasn't maximizing the talent that I have. They didn't use me right. And because they didn't use me right, I ended up losing some things that I felt were needed and the Broncos are now giving me a chance to regain that. When I say swagger, it's more about rushing the passer, lining me up at d-end, lining me up at defensive tackle, letting me be a guy where I could use some power.

"Last year in St. Louis, I was just a straight nose guard. I lined up over the center and I was supposed to take double teams. That's it. I'd get in trouble for making too many plays. Now it's about how can I be in a powerful situation but get sacks as well as show my athleticism and keep the linebackers free. . . .

"(The trade) was definitely for the best. . . . and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to prove myself, not for the organization or the Rams or anyone else, but myself. I know what I can do. It's just about doing it. I've got to practice smarter, stay healthy and go out the best way I can."
I wonder what Jimmy has to say now? Empty words from a guy who can't back it up. The ultimate underachiever. That 6th round pick is looking like the steal of the century.
