"Dickerson's going down!" ~ Chris Johnson
Tennessee Titans RB and NFL leading rusher Chris Johnson has been quoted through sources that, not only will he go over 2,000 yards rushing this year, but he will also break Eric Dickersons' All-Time Rushing (Season) record of 2,105 yards. Eric set the record in 1984 as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. Few have tried to conquer this momentive achievement, Barry Sanders and Jamal Lewis were able to rush over 2,000, but both fell short when it came to chasing down Dickersons NFL record.
Chris ("Every Coaches Dream") Johnson has all but guaranteed that he will surpass the former Rams Hall of Fame Running Back this season.
The Saint Louis Rams travel to Nashville (December 13) to face the Titans. Chris' "Dream" should be motivation enough for the Rams defense to stop the RUN as well as protect its own longtime hallowed Rams record.
Will the Titans Chris Johnson break Eric Dickerson's All-Time (Season) rushing record?
As it stands now Johnson has rushed for 1,396 yards with 5 games to go in the 2009 season. It'll be interesting to see if "Every Coaches Dream" holds true to his word or maybe his bark is just biggger than is bite!
2,105 is very special and important NFL mark! Only one man can say he's rushed for that many yards in a season. He would also say he had a Damn good Rams offensive line.
Hey Chris, KEEP DREAMING!
TOP NFL RUSHING LEADERS
1. Chris Johnson (TEN) 1,396 yards
2. Steven Jackson (STL) 1,120 yards
3. Adrian Peterson (MIN) 1,084 yards
4. Thomas Jones (NYJ) 1,068 yards
5. DeAngelo Williams (CAR) 1,022 yards
6. Maurice Jones-Drew (JAC) 1,001 yards

This isn't one of those "unbreakable" records; it will be broken at some point soon- if not by Johnson by someone else. And if the league goes to a 17 or 18 game schedule, as they're talking about doing, it will fall very quickly.
We can do our part by playing some run defense for a change when we go to Tennessee.
Re: "Dickerson's going down!" ~ Chris Johnson
It would be nice if we could figure out how to stop the run and at least do our part in holding Dickerson's record in place.

If they add 2 more games then Dickerson's record should stand as the 16 game rushing record. I hate it when games are added to seasons and then someone breaks a record in 18 games that someone posted in 16 not really breaking the record.
As for Johnson it will be tough but his schedule is favorable. He doesnt face a top 10 rushing defense the rest of the way and only 2 teams are 15th or higher.
Re: "Dickerson's going down!" ~ Chris Johnson
Johnson needs 710 yards in Tennessee's last 5 games to surpass Dickerson's record. That's 162 YPG from here on out which is a heck of a lot, despite CJ playing out of his mind so far this year.

Like Dickerson? He broke the record previously held by simpson, who set the record during a 14 game season.

Is it 810 yards that Johnson needs to break Dickersons mark or is it 710 yards? 710 yards with 5 to go, Johnson would only need 144 YPG to break the record.

Which is basically what he has been doing lately...

Yep, 710. I wrote 810 by mistake. :)

If anyone in the league can do it, it's Johnson. =/
Re: "Dickerson's going down!" ~ Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson with a 113 yards today against the Colts now has a total of 1,509 yards rushing for the season with 4 games to go. Johnson will need to rush for 597 more yards to pass Dickersons record, roughly he'll have to average about 150 YPG from here on out. Tough Task!

Who cares. Or who should care. We suck and I want us to win!

I agree, tough task. After today, he's averaged 126 yards per game. 150 yards per game will be difficult. Johnson has been stellar, but I think Dickerson has a good chance to keep his record.

Do people really call him Chris "Every Coaches Dream" Johnson. A nickname should be less than 6 sylables and that might be the worst nickname in the history of nicknames. The Rams should force the Titans to make Vince Young win the game.

I'm not 100% positive, but I think "Every Coaches Dream" is a self-given nickname by Chris Johnson himself. I'm pretty sure anyone with an once of creativity could come up with something better.
