Eagles Claim WR Greg Salas From Patriots
Eagles claim wide receiver Greg Salas from Patriots
By Brad Biggs | National Football Post – 22 minutes
The Philadelphia Eagles claimed wide receiver Greg Salas off waivers from the New England Patriots.
The Eagles announced the move this afternoon as Salas joins his third club since being a fourth-round draft pick of the St. Louis Rams in 2011. Philadelphia released wide receiver Mardy Gilyard to create a roster spot for Salas.
The Patriots cut Salas earlier this week to make room for rookie offensive tackle Markus Zusevics. New England had traded a seventh-round draft pick to the Rams for Salas at the end of preseason. He went back-and-forth between the 53-man roster and the practice squad. It’s not known if the Patriots were hoping he would clear waivers so he could be re-signed to the practice squad. That is the risk involved with making such a move.
Salas appeared in only one game for the Patriots. He made 27 catches for 264 yards as a rookie for the Rams.
