Steve Wyche, of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, reports Atlanta Falcons CB Jimmy F. Williams will not sign his contract until Monday, July 24, at the earliest. Williams severed his contract with his current representation, which triggers a legal maneuver that prevents him from hiring another agent for five days. Williams plans to re-sign with Lock, Metz and Malinovic and stick with the firm.
What does that mean? I'm sorry but I'm confused!

Um, it means he fired his agent and can't hire another one for five days. Thus, without an agent, the earliest he'd be able to sign his contract would be when that time period is up because obviously he's not going to sign without representation.
