Falcons quarterback Michael Vick will be back with the team for the 2007 season with the intent of him being the starter, according to a spokeswoman for team owner Arthur Blank.
"There are no plans to trade him or cut him," Kim Shreckengost, executive vice president of operations for Arthur M. Blank Group, said. "Michael is our quarterback and the leader or our team. We have a new head coach [Bobby Petrino] who is anxious to start working with him. Everyone has high expectations of him going into next season.
"Michael has those too."
There has been speculation of Vick's status with the team since Petrino was hired Jan. 8 and since Vick was placed under investigation —- and cleared by the State's Attorney's Office - for trying to carry an illegal substance through a security checkpoint at Miami airport last week.
Vick, a six-year veteran, threw for a career-high 20 touchdowns and became the first NFL quarterback to run for more than 1,000 yards last season. However, the Falcons finished 7-9 and did not make the playoffs, costing coach Jim Mora and most of his staff their jobs.

The cap hit would be huge. That's what I'm hearing on Sirius NFL Talk.
