Far out there NFL trivia
Not for the faint of heart or unsound mind.....you shall have to dig deep for these.
1. Which currently existing NFL team was the very first west of the Mississippi River? Answered correctly.
2. There was one NFL team that was third from last in the standings during a season despite never scoring a single point that season. Name the team and why they weren't last. Hammond Pros. The reason they were not last was on account of a 0-0 tie, thus better than a .000 record, keeping them out of last place despite never scoring a single point that season.
3. Which now-defunct NFL team scored the FEWEST points in its franchise history? EXTRA CREDIT for whoever tells me what that point total was. Evansville Crimson Giants. Played only one season before folding. The point total was 6.
4. Who was most instrumental in getting the forward pass legalized, and what were the events that made it happen? Answered correctly. See posts for answer below.

Re: Far out there NFL trivia
Okay MOM, heres my attempt for #4....
#4. John Heisman legalized the foward pass in 1906. Heisman also was responsible for inventing the snap and count signals. The legalization came after three years of trying to persue Waler Camp and the rules committe.
Heres my attempt at # 3 also... (not to sure about this one)
#3. I am going to say the Cincinnati Reds in 1934 who scored only a touchdown and field goal all season.

Your answer to #4 is correct. To add to it, though, he was watching the Georgia Tech Bulldogs play the North Carolina Tarheels. The score was 0-0 in the fourth, and one of the teams was going to try to punt. The poor kid saw major pressure coming, and threw it down the field, where, something like 70 yards away, someone caught it and ran it in for a touchdown. Of all people, POP WARNER had an absolute fit trying to get the then illegal play overturned, but it stood because the ref didn't see it. That is where Mr. Heisman came up with the idea.
Your answer to #3 was wrong, however.

Re: Far out there NFL trivia
I shall now provide the following hints.....
For #1, this team is only a couple of miles west of the Mississippi, and has been around since the 1920's. You could probably smell the mud from downtown.
For #2, this occured during the 1920's as well, and is not a team with a familiar name.
For #3, the team in question was only around for one season, also in the 1920's.
