Fitzpatrick struggling as Bengals back-up
From the Cincinnati Enquirer...
Quote:
QUARTERBACK
Starter - Carson Palmer
Backups - Ryan Fitzpatrick, Jeff Rowe, Jordan Palmer
An interesting competition is shaping up behind Carson Palmer. The returning No. 2 quarterback, Fitzpatrick, has not looked sharp in minicamp. No matter who wins the second and third quarterback positions, the Bengals are in deep trouble if anything happens to Palmer.
Rotoworld's take:
Quote:
Bengals backup QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has not looked sharp this offseason, causing some to wonder if he could lose his job.
The Bengals don't have many options: Jeff Rowe and Jordan Palmer. It's quite possibly the worst group of backup quarterbacks in the league.

Re: Fitzpatrick struggling as Bengals back-up
if he gets cut, i'm sure mike martz will grab him. I think martz would be able to bring the best out of fitzy.

Maybe I should be clear that I was NOT referring to the "judicial" system?:|
Re: Fitzpatrick struggling as Bengals back-up
I'm not so sure why this is surprising,he had 1 good game with the Rams and then stunk up the place,I still see him as a 3rd string QB at best with whoever he plays with.

I agree. I liked Fitz and was hoping he would elevate his game after watching what he did in that amazing comeback against Houston, but he just didn't have it in him. He's definitely nothing more than a 3rd stringer.

After watching that game i had such high hopes for him. I thought Martz had found another diamond in the rough he could groom to be a starter. I never really saw any promise in him after that game. It sucked, i really liked him and really wanted some good stuff out of him for the rams. But not every qb can be a starter, and even some starters are disapointments.
Your right, he really isnt more then a 3rd stringer...unless he was on the *********, i think he could beat out Smith IMO. Smith just stinks.

I liked him to and as you said he just didn't have it, maybe he does turn it around at some point, good luck to him.
