Re: Giants make big cuts
Wow, that's kinda weird that they released LaVar. I know he's prone to injury, but they didn't really give him too much of a chance? Petitgout is a decent player, what happened there?

Re: Giants make big cuts
Petigout is coming off a broken leg and carries a big cap number this year. They must have a younger guy to move out there, i am sure that they dont think bob whitfield is the answer. As for arrington, injury was pretty severe.

Re: Giants make big cuts
I think the article on ESPN.com stated that the player who subbed for him last year after the injury(Diehl?) did well enough that they're comfortable letting Petigout go. In addition to his high cap number, age and coming off of injury, I'm sure.

Also O-lineman Whitfield retired.
Sirius NFL Talk had Whitfield on last night. Whitfield hinted that the Giants were cleaning out the bad eggs in the locker room.

Giants release Arrington
The giants released LB lavar arrington, now if im not mistaking arrington was really becoming a factor in the giants defense before he got injured and emmons isnt to bad himself, now if were looking to keep witherspoon in the middle then is this a good choice to take a look at him? I remember watching a few games of the giants before he got injured and i though he played pretty well as he was getting back to his old self, he is still young and when he is healthy he is a force on any ones defence, so what do yall think??

Re: Giants release Arrington
Living in the DC metro area I have a little insight on this topic. Lavar has all the physical tools when healthy which has been rare in the last few years.
However, where Lavar has come up short is on the mental part of the game. Lavar plays more on instinct versus position/responsibility. He often is out of position somethimes it allows him to make a big play but often leads to a big play for the offense.
If you are willing to develop your D to allow Lavar to roam around kind of like Pitts safety Troy P.(?) then he could be the stud at LB we've been looking for. However, do you really want to build a D around a guy who has been injured more than healthy the last few years.

Re: Giants release Arrington
Achilles injuries are tough. He probably won't be 100% this year, so I'd pass on him.

Not to mention 2 veteran coaches cut him loose. (Gibbs and Coughlin)

Re: Giants release Arrington
he is an over rated and , way too high priced, as a physical guy, he has it all, except the capacity to play the way the coach wants and freelances whenever he feels. linehan wouldn't disturb what he is building for someone like arrington. that would be a total crap pile in the lockerroom.

If Todd Steussie leaves via FA, Luke might be worth a look. Might be decent insurance if his asking price isn't too high ...

Re: Giants make big cuts
Will51,
How will he be a good addition. He often plays out of position and injury prone.
How will this help the Rams.........

I wouldn't mind seeing Emmons on the roster, could challenge Chillar.
