    GOAT - Coach

Over the last couple of weeks both Bill Cowher and Peyton Manning called Bill Bellicheck the best coach of all time. Personally I REALLY disagree with that statement, LOL. Was wondering if there is any consensus here. I understand its difficult to discuss objectively, especially with the differences in the era, but I think you can look at overall legacies and make a semi-informed choice.

Though he ranks 38th in career wins, Vince Lombardi has to be the choice for me. That man put more into a relatively short career than any coach in history.

Shula. He had success in three decades with very different teams and in very different leagues.

Plus, he makes a Hell of a ribeye.

I have to go with the man the Superbowl Trophy is named after.

I probably should have added Bill Walsh to the list, and started looking at a way to change the poll to include the Niners greatest coach.

Then I thought, SCREW BILL WALSH.

    And all was well.

One guy that I think doesn't get enough credit is Joe Gibbs. 3-1 in Super bowls, three different QBs winning it. That 91 Redskins teams could hang with anybody. Yeah, there were 2 championships in strike shortened seasons, but I think that's actually a mark for him - when having to deal with completely new players in a shortened time frame, he got the most out of his guys. And of course it wasn't the scabs that won the Super Bowls. They also beat that Bears team that everyone thought was going to dominate the end of the 80s.
