Green Dots?!?
I read on another site that some helmets have green dots on them and that Madden explained it as only one green dot was allowed on the field at any one time.
Seems that the green dot designates a sideline radio......
I certainly did not notice the dots, I'll have to watch the game again and see if I can "pick up" on that!

Re: Green Dots?!?
So that is what they were for. I saw that all QBs had a green dot on the back of their helment. The annoucers on MNF (I think) were joking that it was the "latest fad" and that soon "All QBs would be doing it."
Makes sense, though.

Re: Green Dots?!?
The reason the helmets are marked with the green dots is so the qb/holder cannot receive an audible prior to a P.A.T's/Field Goal attempt.
Atleast that is what I got from the discussion.
I wonder why you would not be able to call an audible before a kick?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Maybe not now, but soon.

Re: Green Dots?!?
The discussion I first read this in said it was (in part) due to , I believe Seneca Wallace, a player who came into the game with the headset and went from QB to WR which put 2 headsetted (is that a word) players on the field.
In other words a team was taking advantage of the rules and in the No Fun League such acts are discouraged. But then, there had to be a perceived advantage?RnD

Re: Green Dots?!?
That is semi-right. It is to prevent two radio enabled helmets from being on the field at the same time. And it was to prevent plays like the one that you described above. But it was specifically addressed at Seneca Wallace, but it was rumored to be that way because the Seahawks have used him as a WR threat in the past. I do not think that the Seahawks have taken advantage of two headsets on the field at the same time...but I have no proof that they haven't. But I would assume that this was just a preventative measure, and an easy way for refs to identify the helmet with the radio.

Re: Green Dots?!?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but.......aren't defenses allowed one headsetted (excellent word, btw, ramsanddodgers) player now as well?

Re: Green Dots?!?
What might be unfair? The offense can get remote instructions verbally from the sideline but not the defense?
The only way it might be unfair would be if the defense were eavesdropping on the offensive play calling. But then the eavesdropper would need to know the opponent's terminologies and get them translated in enough time to call a defensive scheme which counteracts the offense's play...
Getting waaaaaaay to convoluted......:xRnD
