Hazing
NAPA -- Rookie linebacker Andre Sommersell, dubbed Mr. Irrelevant as the final player selected (No. 255) in the 2004 draft, made the mistake of bucking a tradition of rookie hazing Tuesday, and it cost him dearly.
"He said, 'I'm Mr. Irrelevant, but I'm very relevant. This (stuff) is irrelevant,' and walked off." linebacker Akbar Gbaja-Biamila said after a morning walk-through.
Sommersell apparently didn't want to sing in front of a group, take the veterans out for dinner or any other standard hazing ritual.
He ended up getting more than he bargained for. A mob of Raiders taped him to a goal post and put a dunce-cap in the form of an orange cone on his head. He then was doused by water coolers before being coated with talcum powder and having his face smeared with Vaseline. The entire team walked off to the locker room, leaving Sommersell to free himself., which took about 15 minutes.

Re: Hazing
You know, the Raiders had last year's Mr. Irrelevant, too. He is now with a different team. Sounds like this fellow is heading there as well.
