    Re: Hedgecock rips into Linehan

I find it interesting that two guys who are blocking specialists from skill positions - Hedgecock and Manumaleuna - were deemed to be of little value to Linehan, and yet have found roles on two teams - the Giants and the Chargers - that have had great success in the past two years.

Meanwhile, the guys chosen to replace them - Klopfenstein, Byrd and Owens - have done virtually nothing for the Rams.

As for Hedgecock's attitude... unnecessary (the best revenge, after all, is playing in the Super Bowl), but easily understood (I can only imagine how he felt the day he was cut).

    He's a fullback. A freakin' fullback. :x

Things like this happen to fullbacks in the NFL. Get over it, buddy.

Yeah, cutting him was a mistake. But if you ask me, letting Curtis walk was an even bigger one. He's just not flapping his gums about it.

The Rams were in the wrong with how it was handled, but this guy seems like a vengeful dude who won't let things go. Cleaning up with a big time contract and getting to the Superbowl isn't enough for him. Yapping about the Rams doesn't make him look any better either. He should just shut up and play.

If I was Scott Linehan and I was on trial for murder- I would want certain people on here on my jury. DNA, eye witnesses, confession- throw it all away baby- I'm not guilty....OF ANYTHING!!!

It's funny-, Tom Coughlin, who is not known for being a "player's coach", runs a no-nonsense club, with an extremely vanilla disposition has absoluely no problems with this guy, but Scoot Lineclown does. And also has three public confrontations with his biggest star players. Of course, it couldn't be Linehan's fault...it never is

    Re: Hedgecock rips into Linehan

I think it's rather refreshing. I tend not to watch interviews or coach speak unless it's someone like T.O. or Charles Barkley or Bill Parcells. I hate what I like to call the "Bull Durham" answers. Remember the scene when what's his name was telling what's his face how to answer questions? "I'm just going out there to help the team win" or the classic "gotta play them one game at a time". I hate it when a player says oh I've moved on....bull. You are a football player playing a high contact sport that takes a certain mentality in the first place. If your peeved, say it.

Hedgecock just said what I think most of us had thought about Linehan. He's not a motivator, he's not a players coach, and he's unqualified to be the HC.

Wasn't it Crash Davis and Nuke LaLoush? Or something like that?

    Anyway...

Here's my thoughts on the Hedgecock saga (I'm going to assume at least one of you was asking WIHT? You know....What Is Hub Thinking?) Well, my first question is......how can a guy who was known as a hard-working, blue-collar, lunch-pail, kind of player turn into an "attitude" problem practically overnight? And then (according to the Giants) return to the grind stone that he was before? Somebody was wrong about this kid.........the Giants & UNC, or the Rams?

And should he have said what he said? In a perfect world, NO. However, this statement did not come from a perfect environment. Bernie asked him for an interview, and directly brought up the subject of Hedgecock's dismissal from the Rams. This kid (and yes, he's still just a kid) simply couldn't hold back anymore, right or wrong.

Yes, I'd like for players (Holt, Jackson, Bulger) and ex-players (Hedge) to take the stoic road with regard to emotional outbursts towards "in-house" problems, but if these little boil overs are indicative of cancer stew that's simmering in this organization, maybe (in a way) it's better to get this out in the open. It will be ugly, but at least, the healing (and house-cleaning) can begin.
"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

There's no crying in football. Hedgecock needs to stop his whining.
