    Michael Vick was drafted in 2001. At that time Billy Devaney was a pro personnel assistant in San Fransisco. So no, Devaney did NOT draft Michael Vick, and no, we should NOT go out and sign him. He really wasn't all that good even in his prime.

    I think if a team would pick him up he definently wouldnt be playing QB. Most likely he would play WR and be a return specialist. IMO he should just stay out of the league but when he does come back he'll end up on a team that has no brains (Raiders, Bengals, etc.)

    I hope Vick does make a comeback in the NFL, everyone makes mistakes (albeit some bigger and more serious than others) he served his time and deserves now to have a second chance. I wouldn't mind him playing for the rams next year, although i highly doubt it would happen.

    I'm with you r8rh8rmike.

    The NFL and any team that decided to take a chance on Vick would have to sell him to the fans. They would have to do this fast and furious because as you pointed out the heat will be on from everywhere.

    I for one do not want this guy on our team, period.

    Re: I say we get Vick!!

    Either way, yes or no, I think that I just don't care. Come play for the rams YAY, don't play for the rams YAY... either way. I just want a team that is competitive and keeps their trash outside the football fields, and away from the press. If he is capable of doing so, and I guarantee he has no choice, than let him play somewhere.

    As I say in every post of a person, whether drafted, or a free agent, I have no choice but to rely on the choices and instincts of our front office and coaching staff. That is something we have to deal with on a daily basis. If we choose not to deal with that, we can take our fanship somewhere else. Based on this, if you do not like the choices of the front office, it is not abandonment to decide to just not root for the Rams anymore, it is following your feelings to somewhere else.

    But, in the fact that I am currently and up to this point have always been a Rams fan, I still have to trust the coaches and recruiters, and if they decide at some point, that they can trust Michael Vick with a contract and a football in his hand, than until something comes up, I have to trust him too. If they decide not to trust him, and they don't recruit and sign him, than I do not have to worry about trusting him, because he's not my problem.

    Either way, the decision is not mine, and the weight of the team is not on my shoulders. But to leave it on a remark to upset the world, I support the signing of one Michael Vick. For the reasons as follows;

    1) Financially affordable - this is an understatement
    2) Has alot to prove - he has to prove he belongs and is capable of playing at the NFL level again, which means, he has to focus, and he will have to work hard to perform well.
    3) As the other two, what's not to gain? You sign a guy to minimum salary, he has to work hard, or his life financially will never settle itself, and if anything goes wrong, his contract is so tiny, that it doesn't even tickle to release him.

    Based on that and that alone, I think if we could get him, even if he just sat the bench day in and day out, it is worth it. He'd be cheaper than Kyle Boller on the depth chart (by the way I like the potential upside to Boller that no one else seems to see in the 27 year old guy), and he'd really try for some playing time.

    The one thing you cannot put past Vick is his knowledge of the game. He played within the rules of football that some referees didn't know were rules in football. He ways making plays with the "Endzone plane" when everyone believed the BALL actually had to CROSS inside the lines. This is not a true point, as any part of your body can cross inside the field, as long as you posses the ball. No one understood this point, but M. Vick knew it was gold.

    He knows the game, and he bent the world and rules around himself so that he could be productive in his own way. Most quarterbacks you have to build arround to support, Mike Vick supported himself in every way.

    Not campaigning here, but for league minimum, how couldn't you even give a guy like that a look?

    "Oh well, there's this dog thing..."

    Oh, so when you got caught speeding and got a ticket, they should have just never let you drive again right? Even though you paid your ticket, had the 2 points on your license for 3 years, and now it's gone, you should still not be allowed to drive right?

    No, he's done his time, he's a free man and should be allowed to return to the field.

    "But, it's different, he killed dogs, he didn't just speed"

    Yeah, and what do dogs have to do with football? I know adults who drowned cats when they were growing up because there were too many cats all over their farms, so they put them in sacks, tied a rock to it, and pitched them into lakes, that's just what they did back then.

    "It's still wrong"

    Yeah, and so is killing people, either with intent or by driving drunk and taking someone out, you can ask a certain Rams lineman about that now can't you? And a human life is worth more than a dog's don't you? How about Albert Haynesworth "dropping" a cleated shoe onto Andre Gurode's head? (If you don't know about this, maybe you should read into it.)

    So point be said, as with the car accident above, if you drive drunk, and your license is taken away from you, I guess you should just get fired, even thought both drinking and driving have nothing to do with your job, and while you're at it, you may as well lose your shopping rights as well, Even though it has NOTHING to do with driving or drinking.

    So that's A-Web for you, love me or hate me, I get in your face when no one else will point out the obvious. Feel free to take your shots, I will sit here and laugh if you can come up with anything that hasn't been covered, and then I will respond ever so slyly and annoy the hell out of you.

    You mean like the two drug dealers who were busted driving Vick's truck in 2004, or the airport incident where one of the members of Vick's "party" stole a watch from a security screener in 2004, or the "Ron Mexico" lawsuit in 2005, or the game incident where he flipped off the home crowd in 2006, or the water bottle incident in 2007, or the failed drug test while out on bail and awaiting sentencing for some dog fighting thing in 2007? And now, he's under investigation by the Department of Labor for illegally withdrawing more than a million dollars from a plan set up to pay his criminal restitution. Nice.

    Michael Vick, the gift that just keeps giving!

    Water bottle;

    1) All that was inside it was jewelry, and that is understandable, because it is a fashionable thing for professional football players with the personality of Vick to wear lots of "bling". So much as to say that it was probably more than tens of thousands of dollars. Yeah, I can understand wanting a safe place to conceal anything I'm not already wearing.

    2) He had absolutely nothing check out as an illegal substance, and they swab tested the entire interior of that container.

    Ron Mexico;

    1) Nothing to do with football
    2) Because it was always "aledged," and whatever problem there had been was settled without a court room, this does not apply in legal standing against M. Vick.

    Middle fingers of fury;

    1) Every person has a right to express their emotions for basic starters
    2) Your home crowd is booing, and probably cursing at you? Whether flipping the pigeons is the most appropriate reaction, what was appropriate about how they were treating him?
    3) He paid his fines, and donated to charity, a total of $20,000, for giving a middle finger, I think that is more than enough.

    As per the other two incidents;

    1) Neither had anything directly to do with his actions
    2) We already know he kept bad company, but that is not a crime in itself
    3) We've all had to, or will have to, go and help bail someone out for something or another. Whether it's drinking too much, or doing something stupid at a game, everyone makes bad choices. In this case, the bad choices were severe, but not him, as I have said.

    Re: I say we get Vick!!

    Interesting that your list of excuses for Vick's troubles didn't include the failed drug test while out on bail or the Department of Labor investigation.

    Michael Vick is a bad citizen. His character was well defined in the dog fighting situation and in the fact that when caught, his first reaction was to blame everything on his family and declare his complete innocence. He has shown a consistent pattern of bad behavior and horrible judgement that goes back years. He can't or won't stay away from trouble and is constantly a disruptive, distractive and problematic figure. He's a mediocre quarterback to boot.

    The good thing here is that as long as Billy Devaney is in charge, we don't have to worry about the franchise killer that is Michael Vick.

    Wow most of guys a really unforgiving, lol. Everyone has dirty laundry. There are STARS in the league now and former STARS that have had problems then it took an event to take place to change their lives and to get back on track. Leonard Little killed a woman while drinking and driving in dowtown st. louis back in 97 or 98. Ray Lewis was involved in a murder when him and his buddies got into an argument w/ a couple of guys prior to the Ravens super Bowl run. Micheal Irvin was, well Micheal Irvin (he has a long list and I dont know where to start). Jamal Lewis was involved in a drug deal. Even Tony Mandiridge, the biggest bust in NFL history, took steriods his whole college and biggining of his nfl career. I mean all guys + others have had a second chances and turned things around. Vick is a play maker and he WILL get a 2nd chance so why count us out? And who in the list of people above is a franchise killer?

    Let's recap. Vick is indicted for running an illegal dog fighting ring, he denies everything, blames the whole thing on his family members, then admits he is guilty when one of his co-conspirators agrees to testify against him. He is released on a bond agreement while awaiting sentencing, begs the judge for leniency, then procedes to get high in direct violation of the conditions of his release. On top of that, it appears that he has stolen money from a court ordered pension fund and is under investigation by the Department of Labor.

    I just don't understand why anyone would buy this guys act or think he is going to change. I'm just glad the Rams won't go anywhere near him.

    I would assume he got high before he went to court and I would also assume YOU would say he did it afterwards. either way its but thats my argument. Well like I said Leonard Little Killed a person and Vick ran a dog fighting ring and probably did kill a dog/s but the way I see it... nevermind, I hate it when people disagree w/ me, lol.
