Who do you think he would retire with? Would he retire as a Ram or would he retire as a Cardinal? In my heart I would hope as A Ram but you never know. If he wins a ring for both teams he may consider retiring a Cardinal. Just curious what some of you thought he might do. If he loses Sunday I'm sure he would retire as a Ram but if he wins I'm not as sure. Thoughts please.
I think he would retire with a cliche. He's the equivalent of Crash Davis in Bull Durham. Seriously, has there ever been a QB that slings more cliches than Warner?

I gotta agree with that. When nobody else would believe in him, the Cards gave him a shot. Which is fine, but he was brought in pretty much to mentor Lienart. But to bench the Golden Boy and let Warner start, showed a lot of balls by the organization and the coaching staff. That kind of faith will not be lost on Warner, who has had as much to do with the Cards resurgance as anyone else has. If the Cards win this week, and my gut tells me even if they don't, Warner will retire a Cardinal, and really, who could blame him.

He has said he wants to finish his career in Arizona. He and his family like it there. I'd guess he'd retire as a Cardinal. I just don't know what difference it makes though.
Technically, I htink no matter what he will retire "as a Cardinal." He says he wants to stay there to finish out his career. If he wins another SB I really think he could retire then, if not I feel like he will want to come back for another shot or so since the offense has very good chemistry now.
BUT we can't rule out a shot that he could do one of those one day deals with the Rams. Would he want to? Maybe. Most of the guys who ran him out are gone now, and even then he patched things up with Martz a few years ago.
Still, no matter what, he will be remembered for his grocery bagger to SB with us. :)
The sad truth is that the way he got "escorted" out of town, and then the way he was welcomed and then advanced in the Cards organization, I can see him retiring as a Card. And good for him, and them. This organization used and abused him, and then when they thought they had a better replacement, they tossed him to the curb.
I would love for him to retire a RAM, just not sure I would if I was in the same boat.
I hear what you're saying Terry, but the Cardinals didn't exactly treat him like royalty either. He was made the starter, then unceremoniously benched in favor of Leinart and only got the starting job back when Leinart was injured.Quote:

Last year, yes. But if you remember, him and Lienart were already splitting time before the injury. Warner would be brought in to run the no huddle because it was so effective.Quote:

Very true, but my point was that the Cardinals had no problem benching Warner just like the Rams did. The difference was that in Arizona he took advantage of his opportunity and ripped it up, where as in St. Louis he did not play well when the chance arose. Injury issues aside (which Warner did not disclose to the team), the Rams had to make an extremely tough decision based on how Warner was performing and how well Bulger was palying. The Cardinals did not have to make a tough decision on Warner because he pretty much returned to his MVP form and Leinart was......well......playing like Leinart.Quote:

I agree. I actually got to see / hear Kurt speak at a luncheon right around the time that he was being released from the Rams. Not one discouraging word was said about the Rams, even when I asked him a couple questions privately. An honorable man.Quote:
