Interesting Jim Haslett Story
Yeah I know, this probably should go in the NFL section, but it's not NFL and it's our former interim coach, I felt it post worthy anyways here it is:
Green, Fassel, Haslett to coach in new league
By RACHEL COHEN, AP Sports Writer 1 hour, 40 minutes ago
Former NFL coaches Dennis Green, Jim Fassel and Jim Haslett will lead teams in the new United Football League.
The league plans to debut in October with four teams in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Orlando and New York. It announced the coaches Wednesday.
Ex-NFL defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell will coach the New York franchise.
Green, the former Vikings and Cardinals coach, will be in San Francisco. Fassel, who led the Giants to the Super Bowl, will coach Las Vegas. Haslett, the ex-Saints coach, will be in Orlando.
The UFL is an outdoor professional football league. Teams are scheduled to play games in Hartford and Los Angeles along with the home markets.
The league also announced that the San Francisco franchise will play games at AT&T Park.

Yea, Mark Cuban threw some money into this league. Play in stadiums that max out at 35,000, play 6 games and have the final game in Vegas during Thanksgiving holiday.

I always wondered what would happen with Denny. I like that guy.

Well he was who we thought he was...
Re: Interesting Jim Haslett Story
Dang, half that league's coaches were candidates to be the next Rams Head Coach.
It's good to see ol' Haz find something that is about his speed though. Good for him.
A 4 team league should present an interesting playoff structure.
Re: Interesting Jim Haslett Story
I give it one year, though I'd be surprised if it makes it that far.
Re: Interesting Jim Haslett Story
I think Drew Bennett bought one of the teams with all the money he stole from us... just so he could have a new place to play.:D

took the words right out of my mouth.... They should start their season after the nfl season is over that way people will watch it, no way it lasts ...
Re: Interesting Jim Haslett Story
I planned on trying out for this league earlier in the year but decided to try out for the Las Vegas Kings instead.
Re: Interesting Jim Haslett Story
Haslett deserved better than that IMO.
Re: Interesting Jim Haslett Story
I live just a few blocks from AT &T Park in SF. One of the groundskeepers is a neighbor.
Apparently the field will be standard size but the endzones will only be 2 yards deep,no field goals, passing only....look for Haslett's D to pitch some shutouts.
Seriously though, why not do this in the spring? I'd watch. Beats poker tournaments.
