Irvin being removed from ESPN line-up?
LinkIs ESPN on the verge of cutting ties with NFL analyst Michael Irvin?
One industry source believes the decision has already been made, and that some at the network view the outspoken Irvin as a ticking time bomb, ready to explode into a public-relations nightmare.
ESPN did not confirm or deny the report, but issued a statement, saying: "We are currently in the process of discussing studio assignments for next season."
There is speculation that newly retired Bill Parcells could end up at the network, but there is no indication that a deal is imminent.
I have to say, ESPN might not be as painful to watch if Irvin isn't on.

They're only now becoming concerned about Irvin? That ticking time bomb must have a really long fuse. One industry source believes the decision has already been made, and that some at the network view the outspoken Irvin as a ticking time bomb, ready to explode into a public-relations nightmare.

Irvin is just down right painful to watch. Dumping him couldn't happen fast enough to suit me.
"...and a great new warrior emerged from the many, to carry the torch, and his name was Rammin' Jackson...and a new era had begun! Bring on the battles to come, he screamed!"

Re: Irvin being removed from ESPN line-up?
Please, please, please let this be true. That guy's constant gawfawing, reaching over and grabbing his broadcast partners, yelling over top of them...you can tell the others are irritated by him (especially Jackson and Young). Now...can someone do something about Gumbel on the NFL network!

Re: Irvin being removed from ESPN line-up?
Irvin is very irritating to listen to on ESPN. Additionally, he seems to continue to reinforce that he used to play for South America's team with continued suspicion for drug use and/or possession.

So glad this waste of space is being removed from their crew. He brought nothing good to the discussion ever. It was funny though to see his co-hosts not even looking at him when he talked....just staring at the table and grinding their teeth, I guess in an effort to not yell at him to shut his blabbing mouth....and yes Gumby needs to go away.

I hope this is true. I remember when Bill Parcells was on ESPN and the show was actually enjoyable. He brought a lot to the table, unlike Irvin who brings nothing but shame and embarrassment.

Irvin, ESPN and the HOF
Its so obvious. Here's what happened...
1. Irvin had incriminating photos of a high-level ESPN executive.
2. Irvin struck a deal with ESPN to hire him so he could gain enough exposure to ensure his election to the HOF.
3. Now that he has been elected, the deal is complete, Irvin has surrendered the photos, and has left the network.
Well... that's the only plausible explanation I can come up with!
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!
