Redskins | Gray officially hired
Mon, 30 Jan 2006 16:41:57 -0800
Gary Fitzgerald, of Redskins.com, reports the Washington Redskins have officially hired Jerry Gray as secondary-cornerbacks coach. Gray brings more than 18 years of NFL experience to Washington, including the last five seasons as defensive coordinator with the Buffalo Bills.
Wouldn't you like to have Daniel Snyder as your personnal shopper?
I can't believe that the RAMS haven't brought in Rod Perry to coach the secondary.
What about Anneas Williams where has he gone? He would be an awsome secondary coach?
This was my concern about Haslett (or any other ex-head coach). They feel loyalty to the staff they hired (and were fired when they were fired), so instead of the best staff available, they hire the guys on their previous staff. If you hire a DC that isn't a head coach, I think they are more prone to try to hire the best available, rather than guys on their old staff.
Best available does not always translate to best fit. I would guess Haslett is opting for assistants he feels will best help him to implement his vision.Quote:
