Jerry Gray likely out in Buffalo, Donnie Henderson may be out in NY

Bills | Gray believes he won’t return to team for 2006 season
Mon, 16 Jan 2006 19:20:43 -0800

The Associated Press reports Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Jerry Gray believes he will not be with the team for the 2006 season. He was recently informed that he is no longer being considered to fill the team's head coaching vacancy. The Bills also gave him permission to seek jobs elsewhere in the NFL, which is another reason he does not believe he will be with the team. Gray said, "If you're a defensive coordinator and they want you, they're not going to give you permission to go somewhere else. ... So I'm pretty sure that means they're letting you go be a D coordinator elsewhere because they've got other plans here."

Jets | Henderson's fate still uncertain
Sat, 14 Jan 2006 06:52:31 -0800

Dave Hutchinson, of the Staten Island Advance, reports if the New York Jets hire Eric Mangini as head coach, defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson is expected to be let go. If Henderson doesn't land a head coaching job or another coordinator's job, he is expected to be offered the Chiefs secondary coach job, working under Herman Edwards.

I'd be very happy with either, but I don't suspect either of them are the guy Linehan has in mind as DC.

Gray would be great here in St.Louis. He could do wonders with the talent we have here, especially with a guy like Ryan Pickett.

I agree. And there's always the chance that by bringing Gray in, he convinces the Rams to make some kind of move for Nate Clements. Pipe dream, but a good one.

Can't imagine Henderson not getting a coordinators job somewhere...at least. I wouldn't be suprised if he landed a HC job. The guy has talent and is a great coach. Don't know why Mangini wouldn't want him on staff.

I'd like to see Gray as our DC, but I think someone has already mentioned Cottrell as the man intended to fill that seat should Linehan be successful.
