Jets/Chargers talking trade for Michael Turner?
Quote:
Though there's still a chill in the air the weather cleared in Mobile for the morning's practice as the North took the field. A full compliment of general managers, coaches and scouts were on hand and there was plenty of news swirling in the air, including the San Diego Chargers and a trade brewing.
Sources familiar with the San Diego Chargers thinking feel Michael Turner will be traded to the New York Jets for the team's pick in round one.
The Chargers will tender Turner the maximum amount and will trade him for nothing less than a first rounder. Speaking to people familiar with the Chargers around Mobile you get the feeling the deal is done.
One sticking point could be the Jets, or any team who desires the acquisition of Turner, coming to terms on a long term contract with the running back.

A very interesting trade for both teams. Turner could be an impact RB if given an opportunity to start. Here are his stats:

Michael Turner #33 | Running back | San Diego Chargers
Roster:
Height: 5-10 Weight: 237
Born: Feb 13, 1982 - North Chicago, IL
Rush Yds TD
502 2
Keep in mind this is in limited action, spelling LT and some carries in mop-up duty. He also had a 17 yd rushing TD in the playoff loss to NE. For the season, Turner avg a whopping 6.3 yds per carry. A 1st round choice is steep, but Turner is somewhat of a proven commodity imo.

Turner is a star in the making. All he needs is the chance to prove it..
Re: Jets/Chargers talking trade for Michael Turner?
that would be a move id look at with interest - is Turner as good as he looks or a product of a good running system ala Denver running backs of the last few years that may struggle when he moves out of the system?? if so maybe he aint worth a 1st round pick but on the flipside maybe he`s the new Larry Johnson who when given the chance to be "the man" will grab it with both hands and run and run some more?? in that case hell yeah he`s worth it!

Seems like a gamble for the Jets. Turner is unproven but then again what are the Jets looking at with their first pick? Didn't they grab Blaylock thinking he was going to be a break out player?
Very interesting....

first rounder is a bit steep for him IMO
