ESPN.com reports that the Jets have agreed to acquire Thomas Jones and a second-round pick (No. 63 overall) from the Bears for the 37th pick in the draft.

I guess Bears think they might be able to get a better FA or in their position in the draft get a good 1st round RB? I was never a huge fan of Jones, but its an upgrade for the Jets.

Yep in the 2005 draft he was the 4th overall. There were 3 RB's chosen in the first five picks that year and Benson was the 2nd one picked.

My feeling is that Jones read the hand writing on the wall. The Bears have been grooming Benson for the starting position and the only thing that prevented it from happening last year was that he upset alot of the starters.

If I remember correctly he showed up late for practice or a meeting or something like that during the preseason.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
