just heard on the radio....
That in order to buy a ticket to a tampa bay playoff game, you must be a resident of florida, sounds like they are trying to keep opposing fans out, thoughts?

I don't see how that is possible.

Re: just heard on the radio....
Not even remotely in the realm of possibility. Violates restrictions on interstate trade among a million other things i could think of. Have you ever heard of florida turning away tourists?

Re: just heard on the radio....
Since it is a privatly owned company it is legal, they can do what they want. The radio host said he looked online and it checks your credit card to see if your a resident. I personally never checked, but I am going by the radio host. So it may or may not be true, but someone should check it out

Re: just heard on the radio....
I apologize, I just reread my original post, and you have to be a resident of florida to buy a ticket, not attend the game. Again, I apologize

Sounds like something out of the Patriots' playbook.

Re: just heard on the radio....
Chargers tickets through Ticketmaster for this Sunday's playoff game in San Diego were the same way, only sold to Southern California residents. The ZIP code for your credit card billing address had to match their list of Southern California ZIP codes.
It's fairly common, some sports teams, after season seat sales conclude, only open up single-tickets sales to home state residents, or at the least, have a period for residents to buy tickets before they open sales to the general public. I know the Arizona Cardinals do it that way.
Go Rams! :r

Re: just heard on the radio....
The fact that they are a private company doesnt make it legal. Not sure where you went to law school.
Note that today, under threat of lawsuit from the new york state attorney general, the decision was changed and is no longer applicable.

Re: just heard on the radio....
Arizona did the same thing when they sold season tickets for their new stadium. Obviously these teams have never heard of stubhub, ebay......

Re: just heard on the radio....
They can't do that, especially if you buy the tickets on the Internet.

Re: just heard on the radio....
It it were legal, and the Rams decided to do it, the ED would probably fall a bit short on sellouts next year.
