Kevin Smith possibility?
Kevin Smith's roster spot may be in jeopardy, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The Detroit News believes Smith's spot is secure despite his preseason struggles, but the Free Press is unconvinced, adding this telling Jim Schwartz quote about Smith's place on the team: "I don't know. I'll cross that bridge when we get there. I don't know that there's very many people that have 100% earned a spot." Even if Smith sticks, he won't have a significant role.

Re: Kevin Smith possibility?
So the guy that can't make the 2-14 team is how much of an upgrade on the 1-15 team?

Re: Kevin Smith possibility?
First, can we get this moved out of Ram Talk?
Second, the guy's coming off a very serious injury, and if the Lions don't want him, I don't want him either. Best does not look like he'll be the most durable of runners in the league, despite being so electric. So at the end of the day, I think that if Smith doesn't make the Lions, he won't be making any roster for a while.I believe!

Re: Kevin Smith possibility?
First of all the reason why he wouldn't make the lions team is because they have plenty of bodies at RB and probably don't want to wait around for Smith to heal. He was also drafted by the old coach. Not saying push for him but if he is better than what we have now than why not look into it if he is cut

Re: Kevin Smith possibility?
Here's two more points.
Kevin Smith is still atop the Lions' depth chart on their website. I doubt it's accurate, but just sayin.
Also, I decided to look at just who these "plenty of bodies" were as were mentioned above. Maurice Morris, Aaron Brown, and DeDe Dorsey.
Judge as you will, but I'd take our depth over theirs and that's saying something.I believe!

Re: Kevin Smith possibility?
Health is the big question. If healthy and can pass our physical he would be a great 3rd down back for us. The price has to be right also.
Maurice Morris is better than anyone we have backing up Steven Jackson.
GO RAMS!!!
