Kurt Warner to get the start for the Cards...
Chris Mortensen is reporting that the Cardinals are expected to name Kurt Warner the starter.
Leinert had a terrible game 3 with like 3 picks. Warner looked pretty solid.
Wish we had him back. He's money.

I can't believe it took them this long.

Re: Kurt Warner to get the start for the Cards...
And thus goes the saga, beware the savior rookie/young qb. In the history of college football, there has never been a player with more offensive weapons than Leinart. The guy has had every opportunity to perform and win the job and he shows nothing in preseason. Too early to call him a bust of course, but they have to be very very disappointed. I bet the Jets feel pretty good about passing on him when they did.

Re: Kurt Warner to get the start for the Cards...
It should be a simple formula for the Cardinals:
Warner '08 < Warner '99
but
Leinart = Wuerrfle
so
Warner '08 > Leinart
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Kurt Warner to get the start for the Cards...
I knew this was coming. Warner was brilliant the second half of '07 and even before Leinart's injury, the Cardinals showed little confidence in Matty by playing Warner in key situations and in the hurry up. I thought Leinart was overrated at SC and I feel the same in the NFL.

Re: Kurt Warner to get the start for the Cards...
Kurt is the man, I could'nt be happier for the guy and I wish he was still a Ram,(nothing against Marc). Matt has alot of potential but I think he just had it to easy a USC. I mean it's really hard to evaluate a guy who plays on the college equivalent of the Patriots. Face it, Tom Brady is a great QB, but would he look that great if he played for Miami last year. I could be totally wrong but it's just a thought.

Re: Kurt Warner to get the start for the Cards...
The Cardinals could be in serious trouble.
Warner is a free agent after this year. If he comes in and plays well, he could very well choose to test the market in 2009 and see what's out there, because he has to assume this organization is going to continue to try and push Leinart into the starting role summer after summer. Furthermore, there might be other teams that are more poised for championship runs than the Cardinals, so if Warner wants another ring, he may opt to look elsewhere.
So the Cardinals may be forced to really shell out some money to keep the 37-year-old Warner, because on the flip side, Leinart hasn't really shown much of anything when it comes to being an elite quarterback in this league. He had a couple of good games in 2006, but has kind of fell off since then and couldn't beat out Warner in a competition that, let's be honest, the Cardinals organization likely wanted to see him win.
Even though the Cardinals contractual priority right now is probably Anquan Boldin, it would be wise for Arizona if they got something done with Warner before next spring when he may be tempted to see what else is out there.

Re: Kurt Warner to get the start for the Cards...
your right,it is pretty amazing, from a magical ride with the Rams and then to the Giants, loses out to Manning, then Arizona and it looks like he is the backup to Leinart and what happens he plays better and is now the starter, some had him "washed up" but he is like a timex watch,he takes a licking but keeps on ticking, good for him, this will be a movie some day.

Good for Kurt. He really hasn't gotten the respect he deserved after leaving the Rams. He must have been feeling like Rodney Dangerfield since then. The guy is a class act and appears to still have something to show his doubters. I hope he gets another big payday.
