Laurence Maroney ready to help Broncos in new NFL season
Former New England Patriots running back Laurence Maroney is dead serious in helping the campaign of the Denver Broncos in the new season of the National Football League. Maroney the 21st overall pick of the Patriots in the 2006 NFL draft was recently traded by the Patriots to the Broncos for a fourth round pick in 2011. The Patriots decided to trade Maroney after he suffered an injury which keeps him off from the team. The management also thought he is not anymore helping the team so they made the tough decision to trade him to the Broncos.
Maroney was sad with the decision but accepted it like a real soldier in the NFL. The NFL star running back just vowed to play even harder to help the cause of the Broncos in the new season of the NFL. Now that he is part of the Broncos roster, Maroney gets a fresh start under Josh McDaniels, who coached Maroney for three seasons while he was offensive coordinator in New England from 2006 to 2008. Aside from McDaniels, Broncos assistant Ben McDaniels (Josh's brother) is also familiar with the 25-year-old NFL star since he is a graduate assistant at the University of Minnesota while Maroney starred for the Gophers.
To be more effective in his career, Maroney has made the decision to change his style to be a more straightforward runner. In four seasons with the Patriots, Maroney had 582 carries for 2,430 yards and 21 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 40 passes for 409 yards and a touchdown. He joins a Broncos backfield that has been in a state of flux ever since starter Knowshon Moreno (hamstring) and backup Correll Buckhalter (back) were injured during the first seven-on-seven drill of training camp. The entry of Maroney makes the Broncos a contender in the 2010 NFL season. Buy cheap New England Patriots tickets to supports your team live.
