Lee Evans to the Rams??
So now that the Bills have said they would entertain trade talks for Lee Evans, what do all of you think about him with the Rams? What would Devaney give up for him? I think it would be fantastic with Evans and Sims-Walker at the outsides. Even Chris Carter on today's Mike and Mike on ESPN said Evans with St Louis would be "Awesome". Thoughts?

Re: Lee Evans to the Rams??
I have to admit, I had a passing thought along similar lines.
Then I did some research. First of all, Lee Evans is 30, so his best days are likely behind him.
Then I looked at his performance in recent years compared to guys already on the Rams:
2009
Evans: 44 receptions, 612 yards, 7 TDs
Avery: 47 receptions, 589 yards, 5 TDs
2010
Evans: 37 receptions, 578 yards, 4 TDs
Gibson: 53 receptions, 620 yards, 2 TDs
Looking at these numbers, I don't know that Evans is much of an upgrade.
I'd say I'd offer a 4th round pick. That's about it.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Lee Evans to the Rams??
Please goodness no! We already have the "When is Clayton coming back" issue, we don't need a Lee Evans issue. Having gone to school up in Western NY, I saw a lot of him and have never been impressed. I heard on NFL Radio yesterday morning that a sportswriter up there thought he looked like 20 pounds heavier than normal, which would mean his main asset, speed, would be hurt.
No No No No NO.
P.S. I didn't even mention the drafting 2 guys, getting Avery back, and still having 3 young guys fighting for spots!I believe!

Re: Lee Evans to the Rams??
After making the HUGE mistake of drafting and starting Josh Cribbs on my fantasy team, I picked up Evans off of the wire and used him the rest of the season. Because of that transaction I won 4 games I wouldn't have otherwise ... ended up losing in the super bowl. Point is, I watched him every weekend ... had some good numbers. HOWEVER, after seeing Av's post, I would still say no. MUCH rather have Clayton back, and we now have plenty of recievers. Kendricks is gonna be huge and Pettis (and Salas) will surprise.
If a team won their division seven straight times, that would be a NFL record. Now add on that team did it with seven different QB's in seven straight years, that record is unbeatable. To do that feat, you must of had a great Defense. Jack Youngblood was the captain of that defense.

We don't need evans we need to see what we have.
Greg Matthews was playing with the second string at the scrimmage so he could sneak in somehow.

Re: Lee Evans to the Rams??
Here are the questions in my mind.
1. Is he better than Sims Walker?
2. Is he better than Avery?
3. Is Mark Clayton coming back this season and when? If he does is Evans better than him anyway?
4. Is he better than the rest of receivers that will make the 53 man roster?
If any of these questions are answered yes than I say kick the tires. Of course money talks also. I certainly wouldn't pay him a ton.
The thing I have always heard about rookie receivers is that they typically don't make an impact their 1st season.

Re: Lee Evans to the Rams??
If what Teke is saying then no.? Ive not seen an awful lot of Evans's, but Ive noticed him more than Avery over the years. What I dont like is the fact that we are still thinking about Avery again. GET RID OF HIM.
We could have got a speedy WR in the last few years, to at least keep the D honest. Jacoby Ford was overlooked by a whole heap of teams. To be fair, Devaney hasnt got a crystal ball, with the injury bug.?
I think finding good players in the NFL that are durable isnt easy.

Re: Lee Evans to the Rams??
He isn't bad, though with the logjam we have at the position we would have to cut someone good to make space for him and we'd have to trade something for him, when we could just sign Mark Clayton who is better.
