lelie to falcons, duckett to skins, picks to denver
denver gets a 3 and 4 from washington, which could go higher depending on incentives, atlanta gets lelie and washington gets duckett.
conclusions. This helps washington a lot if portis is hurt worse than people think. Skins clearly trying to win it all, i think duckett was the best guy that they were going to get by far. a very very good back.
Atlanta was desparate. they are no left with no proven backup to dunn, but norwood has looked good to date.
denver got away with murder in my view. Everyone knew that lelie wasnt going to play for denver again and they still got a 3 and 4 for him and maybe better.

Huge plus for Denver on this. They get rid of Lelie and get at worst a third and fourth. But if the Redskins finish with a worse record than the Broncos, those picks become a first and a third.

Re: lelie to falcons, duckett to skins, picks to denver
I to wonder if Portis is in tougher shape then the Skins are revealing ? I don't see Lelie doing much on the Falcons, based on Vicks poor passing abilities and the run all the time offense in Atlanta.
I would have liked to see Duckett wearing the Blue and Gold.
I heard on Sirius that Denver " only " got a 3.

I feel bad for Ashley Lelie. True he got out of Denver, but now he's on a team with a quarterback that will never know how to utilize him.

I think the Falcons have the components to have a really good season, its just if Vick doesn't utilize his receivers, it'll just be another pointless year for them. Lelie is a huge pickup for them, their WR's are just flat out, not good. Vick uses his TE more than any of his WR's. I'm not saying that's bad, but come on, a TE, catching better than all their receivers? Ehh, bad news. But Lelie can definitely help them out, if they learn how to utilize their talent (Mainly, Vick).

How so? Lelie hasn't done much of anything in his career. He also couldn't beat out the old vet Rod Smith for the #1 spot in Denver. I don't see Lelie doing much in Atlanta, and even though Vick does not do a good job getting his receivers involved, Lelie had the opportunity in Denver to stand out and he didn't.

You're absolutely right Nick, more like Peerless Priceless.

Re: lelie to falcons, duckett to skins, picks to denver
I have no sympathy for lelie. He signed a contract, agreeing to play for a certain amount of money for a certain period of time. No one put a gun to his head, he thought it was in his best interests to sign and he did. He then decided he didnt want to report despite his legal and ethical obligation to do so. To hell with him the spoiled brat. The players are the first to complain that the owners wont pay them MORE when they do well, but do they want to give money back when they dont perform well? To the players, contracts are one way obligations. Pay me more than the contract if i do well (ie what you paid me for in the first place) and pay me the same if i do worse.
Nice deal if you can get it in life, i dont know of many jobs that work that way. This guy was hardly the second coming of jerry rice.

Re: lelie to falcons, duckett to skins, picks to denver
That was the point of the comparison. Peerless Price was viewed as a big pick-up for the Falcons for the same reason, and he didn't do anything. Price widely benefitted from Eric Moulds in Buffalo, just as Lelie hasn't shown that he's a true #1 guy in Denver. What the Falcons need is a real playmaker at receiver to give Vick another target who is actually capable of making things happen. That's not Lelie, which is why it's easy to question the true impact of a move like this and disagree with the notion that it's a huge pick-up.

Re: lelie to falcons, duckett to skins, picks to denver
Ahhh, I guess you're right. We'll see what happens, he's a pretty big named WR, not THAT good or anything, but still a known name, and I think the Falcons just needed someone like him, I mean, is there any free-agent WRs better than this guy really? And, I don't think the Falcons have the option to really trade anyone anymore.

Re: lelie to falcons, duckett to skins, picks to denver
Even though that's true, that still doesn't make Lelie a huge pickup.
