Let me be the first to say this about Seattle
I think they are headed for a big tumble.
While their defense should still be fairly strong, their offense doesn't look too good to me right now. I see:
- A QB coming off a bad season and having off-season surgery;
- A RB getting up their in years who missed a significant portion of last year;
- A line that failed to get younger or more talented because of failed efforts to lure high priced FAs;
- A WR corps that lost its most productive player and did not add anyone significant;
- A thin TE position.
I still have a few months to think it over, but right now I'd have to say that I see the Rams and Niners being the top two teams in the division next year.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Let me be the first to say this about Seattle
I think that their team hinges on hasselbeck. As you say av, they have some good talent on the defensive side of the ball, their real issue is whether they can recover from the loss of hutchison and regain the dominant offensive line play that helped make them so successful. I have always thought that their receivers were only ok at best, but i think that with hasselbeck and alexander, they are still as good a bet as anyone to win the division.
That being said, i would LOVE for avenger to be right on this one.

I agree with AV. The 9ers have definitly made the best moves divisionwise and should be contending with the Rams. I see the Cards actually giving the Hawks a run for the third spot this year.

Re: Let me be the first to say this about Seattle
Indeed, I've been saying this before and I'll say it again, I think the NFC West is going to be the powerhouse this year. Any team has a shot at winning in a divisional game (simply because of the rivalries), but I think the team that will do the best (against other opponents) in our division will more than likely be the whiners, and I hate to say that, but it is true. Their competition are the 3 other teams in the division and hopefully the Rams will do well enough to compete for the crown of the west or wildcard.
It's all schedules too, I honestly think our schedule is going to be pretty tough if our defense doesn't put its act together...I don't know what our rivals' opponents are so I can't say if theirs are just as tough...

Seattle Seahawks
Overall rankings both offense and defense:
2006
Offense-19
Defense-19
2005
Offense-2
Defense-17
2004
Offense-8
Defense-26
2003
Offense-6
Defense-19
My point is the Seahawks have relied on their offense to carry them through. Their defense hasn't been formidable for the last 4 years and I don't see that changing. I agree with AV this could be a slide down year for the Seahawks.
Their offense seems to have slipped up a bit going into the 2007 season.
Also the other 3 teams in the NFC West have improved for the upcoming season. I predict there will be a new NFC West Champion in 2007.(RAMS) of course.

I bet they sweep you again this season. Though both games should be close as they always are.

Re: Let me be the first to say this about Seattle
I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but our offense slipped up a bit going into the 2006 season. Unless we get slammed with injuries this year the way we did last year, I don't think the slide down will continue into this season.
And it appears that we finally fixed the Achilles heel of our defense by retooling the secondary. At a minimum, there will be significant improvement over last year's defensive performance.

Re: Let me be the first to say this about Seattle
the reason why they traded djack is because they have a lot of faith in dj hackett... but they did lose depth... they have deon branch, dj hackett, bobby engram, and then who????

Not exactly a scary WR corps. And, don't forget, they also lost their best (albeit not a great one) TE in Jeramy Stevens.
