Lions | Two key wide receivers not impressing the coaching staff
Lions | Two key wide receivers not impressing the coaching staff
Thu, 6 Apr 2006 21:08:56 -0700
Tom Kowalski, of mlive.com, reports just three short weeks into the Detroit Lions offseason conditioning program, sources said WRs Charles Rogers and Mike Williams have not impressed the new coaching staff. Rogers has been attending the workouts but the coaches have been underwhelmed by his attitude and focus. Rogers alleged reputation for being a partier remains. Williams didn't show up for any of the workouts last week. His agent said he left because of a "family matter.'' Williams is reportedly out of shape and overweight. Both wide receivers will need to improve their focus, or they could find themselves battling for a roster spot.
Why didn't they say they aren't impressing Mike Martz?

The infamous "Martz" doghouse is the same, only the address has changed. Looks like Rogers and Williams will soon find themselves in it.

Chad Jackson looks pretty good. I could see Martz doing a happy, happy dance if the Lions picked him up.

Maybe Furrey will become their go-to guy.

I always though Mart would not get on with Rogers, he just doesnt seem to have the work ethic. Mike Williams is probably out of shape for Martz's liking. The thing is, if Williams got in shape and put some effort in, Martz would turn him into an absolute beast

There are no odds of the lions taking a wide receiver at #9. They need a lot of help, they are not going to take another receiver. quarterback, offensive tackle, defense, all good bets.

hey, it's Matt Millen. I wouldn't be surprised if the Lions took the Ohio State mascot in the first round.
