Alcohol now a no-no for tailgating Seahawks fans

SEATTLE - For many football fans, beer and tailgating go together. But not in Seattle, where quaffing a frothy libation will now get you a fine.
"None of us are looking to get drunk out here, but it's nice to have a beer or two before the game," said tailgater Steve Ege.
State liquor control agents are now prowling the parking lots around Qwest field, turning alcoholic beverages to garbage.
"I think the biggest thing you see, particularly around football games, is a lot of people being disorderly, urinating on cars. So there's been a real increase in the number of people complaining about that," said Warren Bresko of the Liquor Control Board.
What's more, the Seahawks themselves are imposing tailgate regulations that include no "taunting" anyone from the other team and no playing catch, not even with a football or a Frisbee.
"I'm a season ticket holder. This is what I'm here for, and I feel like the man's coming down on us, taking away our good time and that's not OK in my book," said Jeff Coxey.
The bottom line is that any alcohol, even if it's in a plastic cup, is illegal.
The only way you can get around the rule is to drink inside an RV. An RV is considered a "private residence" and the long arm of the party police can't reach you in there.
The fine for drinking alcohol outside the stadium is $103. Anyone caught selling alcohol without a license faces a fine of $5,000 and a year in jail.
