The Dolphins have interiewed nine candidates so far to find Nick Saban's replacement, and will make it an even 10 when Detroit Lions offensive coordinator and former St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz speaks to the Dolphins this week, according to a source.
The meeting, which will take place in Detroit, will likely come Thursday.
Martz, 56, compiled a 53-32 record with the Rams from 2000-2005 and a 3-4 mark in the post-season.
He led St. Louis to a 14-2 record in 2001 but was upset by the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
The Rams made the playoffs in four of Martz's six seasons as coach.
In 2005, Martz led the Rams to a 2-3 mark before a bacterial infection in his heart forced him to take a leave of absence.
Martz, who reportedly had several clashes with the front office, was let go after the season with one year remaining on his contract.
Martz was the Rams' offensive coordinator in 1999 when the team won the Super Bowl, thanks to Martz's offense, which was dubbed "The Greatest Show on Turf."

isn't joey harrington the QB there, he chased him out of Detroit,so i doubt he wants him again and Culpepper is shot also,i still say Arizona is the best fit for Martz.

Reports out of Miami indicate that Harrington could be released this offseason for salary purposes.

It seems kind of obvious to me too, but most Arizona fans that I've mentioned it to hate the idea and Arizona has Mike Sherman coming back for a 2nd interview already. They've interviewed four candidates so far and Sherman seems to be the early favorite.
I don't know about Martz in Miami. I'm interested to see what he can do as a HC his second time around. I think on a personal level that Martz might be a pretty good guy and I've always wondered if he can learn from what happened in St. Louis. His personal feelings of many situations seemed to be his biggest downfall so I wonder if he's managed to come up with a gameplan to avoid those situations?

Basically, I could care less about Joey but I was pulling for him to turn his career around. Even I felt bad about how his Detroit career went. It was surprizing to me that he beat out Culpepper and maintained the starting role in Miami this year but I think that goes to show how not-ready DC was to come back. Joey's numbers weren't terribly good and were essentially what he was putting up in Detroit. He apparently forgot that Chambers was a pro-bowl caliber WR in 2005 too. If Martz takes over, it won't be a shock to see Joey looking for work.
