Martz Withdraws in Oakland Search
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Martz has withdrawn from consideration for the Raiders' HC job.
Martz let the Raiders know today.
Martz said he enjoyed visiting with Al Davis but that he didn't think the situation was right for him at this time.
By the way, don't be surprised if the Detroit Lions explore the idea of Martz becoming OC there.

Re: Martz Withdraws in Oakland Search
That's a great way for Martz to re-assert his value, actually turn down an opportunity to compete for an HC job.
Sends a message. Pretty similar to Haslett.

I'd drop from that too, Oakland and it's fans scare the hell out of me...
Re: Martz Withdraws in Oakland Search
Great move by Martz he would do a lot better reestablishing his self with the OC position in Detroit where they have a QB with just 4 years experience and three WRs and a RB all with less 3 years or less experience none of these players have reached their peak yet and all will get better with time. Martz also will have a good veteran TE in Pollard who led the entire team in receptions and was second in receiving yards.
He really needs the Detroit job it is an OC dream. Even more so then ours people expect our team to have a high level of play in the passing game because of what we have done previously. Detroit has yet to do anything in the passing game Roy Williams led all receivers with just 687 yards receiving.
Good Luck getting the gig in Detroit coach Martz.
Re: Martz Withdraws in Oakland Search
Is Al Davis squirming yet? He'd better hope Ken Whisenhunt takes the job, because nobody else wants it. I've never seen a HC job [even just interview requests] turned down by so many people around the league. I'm glad Martz took himself out of the "race," it's for his own good.
Re: Martz Withdraws in Oakland Search
Its gonna s.... playing against him,but at least we have Haslett to defend it.
