Re: McNair to retire

From Rotoworld:

Steve McNair-QB-Ravens Apr. 17 - 10:52 am et

Steve McNair will announce his retirement from football at a 1PM ET news conference on Thursday.
The decision would not have surprised in January, but it does now after McNair began working out hard and was projected as Baltimore's starter. It's probably for the best for everyone. McNair's body and game betrayed the old warrior, and he was coming off multiple surgeries. Originally a Houston Oiler, McNair came up just short of a Super Bowl ring, but was the co-MVP in 2003 and finished as a top-ten fantasy option five times. The Ravens can move forward with Kyle Boller, Troy Smith, and a rookie to be named later

Re: McNair to retire

I'll never forgive McNair for driving me nuts in the 2nd half of Superbowl XXXIV.

Good Luck to him.

Maximum respect to McNair, especially how he played us in that Super Bowl.
One of the toughest QBs I've seen. He will be remembered for that toughness.

Re: McNair to retire

I always thought he was a bit overrated but a tough guy, that play he made against the Rams in the super bowl to get away from Kevin Carter showed how strong he really was.

Re: McNair to retire

A good player and even better leader. He could carry an offense at his best. He always showed a lot of heart, toughness and love for the game on and off the field - he's got my respect.

Exactly my thoughts. I've always respected McNair a great deal. He is a warrior, an old-school tough guy and that's rare especially at QB. He also was a damn good QB, it's a shame he took such a pounding he could have achieved even more if he had been less beat up but that was the way he played the game.
