Most dominating defense ever
How many guys on this board remember vividly the terror that the 85 bears defense struck into the hearts of opposing teams. I was living in chicago at the time. To me, the most dominant defense ever.
This is not a matter of statistics. That team also had a pretty good amount of offense. they played in plenty of blowouts where the stats didnt matter at the end of the game.
Remember the playoffs. They buried the giants and the rams and then absolutely killed new england. That defense was truly a drop back to pass and run for your life situation.

I remember all too well. I actually thought we had a chance against them in the playoffs, boy was I wrong. Best D EVER.

The only offense that had real success against that Bear team was the Marino Dolphins in a big MNF game that prevented the Bears from equaling the 72 Dolphins unbeaten season feat.
That was one the best non-Ram games I've ever seen, in part because my favorite all-time non-Ram, Nat Moore, had a big game.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Most dominating defense ever
yep, but as Ellard said in reference to the offensive game plan of that year, "....we just gave the ball to Eric"
Not good enough against those monsters.

I havent seen the 85 Bears play but I have a mix (Clipshow to music) about how they beat the New England Patriots, pretty good mix, they looked like they were dominating the whole game.

Yup, led by my favorite non-Ram QB of all time...Jim McMahon...truly a linebacker mentality in a QB's body. That team also had a pretty good amount of offense
Funny story....when he showed up to the Bears' headquarters to sign his first contract, he pulled up in a limo and entered the office wearing his shades, smoking a stogie, and carrying an open can of beer.Clannie Nominee for ClanRam's Thickest Poster

Can you imagine all the "see no evil, hear no evil" that must have been going on while he was at BYU?
