New Orleans
Is it time to take the Saints seriously? They are one of the weaker franchises in NFL history but they are dismantling the Eagles in Philadelphia today. Brees has been outstanding and he's got loads of weapons with which to work: Shockey is one of the best TEs in the league while the receiving corps, led by Colston, is as good as any on paper. Depth at RB adds to their potent offence. Throw in an excellent defence, with the linebacking corps being especially strong, and they've got a seriously good side.
They were 2-6 on the road last year, wih those two wins coming against modest opposition in the form of the Chiefs and Lions, but if they can continue today's form- beating a team which reached last year's NFC Championship game, let's not forget- on their travels, they're going to take some stopping.

Re: New Orleans
Yes, it's time to see that even with a weak defense, nobody can stop that offense. Eventually it can catch up with them, but as long as Brees and company are moving the ball at will, they are not only a playoff team, but a possible Super Bowl team.

Re: New Orleans
They are insane. Put up points at any given moment. We have to take them seriously.

Re: New Orleans
Horray for my fantasy team (I've got Brees)
I actually see them being a lot like GSOT. Granted, they don't have the ground game of Faulk, but it boils down to a lot of run and gun, catch us if you can offense. I miss that.

Re: New Orleans
What is weird about the Saints is that they have a back like Reggie Bush, and they could leave him out there just to run screens, have him catch out of the back field and run outside all the time.
But no, they went to the effort to find decent inside runners like Mike Bell and Pierre Thomas to keep the defense honest, which makes their ridiculously good passing attack even more dangerous.

Re: New Orleans
Drew Brees probably would've won MVP last year if Martin Grammatica didn't miss 2 game winning kicks and if the Saints defense could hold a lead late in the game.
I picked them to lose to the Giants in the NFC championship game because of Brees and all of the weapons they have on offense. They also have Gregg Williams as their new defensive coordinator and it looks like they're doing a good job in creating turnovers but I would like to see them face a good team whose quarterback isn't injured to see if they're the real deal.

Re: New Orleans
The defense can allow thiry five points a game as long as Brees and the offense are putting up 40+

Re: New Orleans
The offense also needs a nickname if they want to be remembered. Gulf Coast Offense seems like it could stick.

Re: New Orleans
NO had a short field a lot due to picks thrown by the awful Kevin "Corn on the" Kalb and special teams mistakes by the Eagles. I think the Eagles went into this season a tad overrated, even when McNabb was healthy. They are weak at WR, injured severely on the O Line, and have lost the heart of their defense both on the field and on the sideline (Dawkins, Johnson). That said, I don't think the Saints aren't real..but I think we need to see a more real test to make that determination.

Re: New Orleans
I am just happy to see them doing well. I was never a big Saints fan, but I was on my honeymoon in New Orleans the night they reopened the Superdome after the storm, and I can say that was the most electric atmosphere I have ever been in (sorry fellow Rams fans) Ever since then, I like hearing they are doing well.
