New Playing Surface to be Installed in San Francisco
Niners to Play on New Surface in 2007
AP: June 28, 2007
The numerous free agents signed by the Niners this offseason won't be the only new thing fans in San Francisco will see in this year's opener. The Niners will also have a brand new playing surface, the team announced today.
"Its a brand new concept," head groundskeeper Benjamin Dover said of the new "PapyrusTurf" surface, "paper fibers are woven together to create a durable, but natural feeling, turf."
When asked why the change was being made, an unusual step for a team that has played on a natural surface in an outdoor stadium, Head Coach Mike Nolan stated "well, everyone keeps saying that we have a great team on paper, so we thought... that's the surface we should play on."

So when will the Smack forum re-open? It seems like you guys are itching to get into it

I didn't buy him as a quarterback. He's just so stiff, especially when he drops back to pass. Really stiff. He reminds me of Kurt Warner.

Truthfully, that post was more of an expression of my disdain for sports cliches than it was an attempt to smack the Niners.
