NFL All Decade Team
espn.com made their all decade team this week. I don't think I'm allowed to post a link so here are the players they picked.
DE: Michael Strahan, N.Y. Giants,
DT: Warren Sapp, Tampa Bay/Oakland
DT: Kris Jenkins, Carolina/N.Y. Jets
DE: Jason Taylor, Miami/Washington
LB: Derrick Brooks, Tampa Bay
LB: Ray Lewis, Baltimore
LB: Brian Urlacher, Chicago
CB: Champ Bailey, Washington/Denver
CB: Troy Vincent: Phil./Mia./Buff./Wash.
S: Ed Reed, Baltimore
S: Troy Polamalu, Pittsburgh
QB: Tom Brady, New England
RB: LaDainian Tomlinson, San Diego
FB: Lorenzo Neal, Cincinnati/S.D./Balt.
WR: Marvin Harrison, Indianapolis
WR: Torry Holt, St. Louis
TE: Tony Gonzalez, Kansas City
T: Walter Jones, Seattle
T: Jonathan Ogden, Baltimore
G: Alan Faneca, Pittsburgh/N.Y. Jets
G: Steve Hutchinson, Seattle/Minnesota
C: Olin Kreutz, Chicago
I think they should've waited for the decade to actually end before they made their all decade team but I guess they just couldn't think of anything else to write about in the off season.

Don't know that I'm picking Brady over Manning.

Agreed.
I also think that Pace should be on the team. Walter Jones is a great player, but people just don't get how high the "degree of difficulty" was playing LT in the Martz offense.

Re: NFL All Decade Team
If I were an Eagles supporter I'd be upset seeing that there was no love for Dawkins at the safety spot. He was the only noteworthy safety for the better part of this decade right?

You're right. No way does Polamulu make this team over Dawkins.

Re: NFL All Decade Team
Troy Vincent is questionable in my mind. If he was so great why did he play for 4 different teams?

I probably would've put Ty Law, Charles Woodson or Ronde Barber ahead of him.
I also think 4 linebackers should've been chosen because 2 of them are MLB's. I would probably put Joey Porter as the other linebacker.
Warren Sapp was good for less than half this decade. I think La'Roi Glover, Richard Seymour(even though he's technically a 3-4 DE) or Kevin Williams would have been better choices for DT.
Some people might be mad that Marvin and Torry Holt are there instead of TO and Moss but I like those choices. TO and Randy Moss might be bigger names in the media but they caused more problems. Torry Holt and Marvin Harrison were the 2 most consistant receivers for most of the decade and it was never a thought that either one of them hurt their team. It's also kind of strange that 3 of the best 4 receivers of the decade were all cut by their teams this off season.

Re: NFL All Decade Team
Remember in that Colts game when Pace totally shut down Dwight Freeney? I know it was a night time game, and we came out scoring (ended up losing it though), but can't remember what year. Even the announcers were commenting on how Pace made Freeney a non-factor.
I also think they went with Polamalu over Dawkins because of Super Bowl wins. They could then use SB wins to justify Brady over Manning if they wanted to I guess.
Of course, I'll take the 1999-2001 Warner, Faulk, Bruce, Holt, and Hakim combo over any of those, ha ha

I agree. He was good, but it's not like he was anything all that special.
My two tackles would have been Walter Jones and Orlando Pace, but Ogden is up there. I like Manning over Brady, too, but I can see why they would go with the rings.

Re: NFL All Decade Team
Congrats to Holt making that list.
For the next decade, lets get some more Rams on there!

Although Dawkins is a great safety, he plays the same position as Ed Reed, who has made a considerable case to be the best at his position this decade. I don't think any one defender has made as many game changing plays as he has the last couple of years.

Re: NFL All Decade Team
Also, as far as Orlando Pace goes, I think it's fair to assume that the top 3 tackles for this decade have been Odgen, Pace and Jones, with Pace getting the snub possibly because he was recently cut? Not sure there, but the three are interchangeable in my mind.
