NFL Fines Rams For Not Reporting Jackson Injury

NFL fines Rams for not reporting Jackson injury

3 hours ago • By Jim Thomas jthomas@post-dispatch.com

The Rams were fined $20,000 by the NFL for not reporting running back Steven Jackson’s groin injury during their Week 2 of the NFL season, for a contest against Washington, league sources told the Post-Dispatch.

Because the injury was not reported, there was widespread speculation that Jackson had been benched after drawing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. (Jackson spiked the football after a running play that he thought should have been ruled a touchdown.)

Meanwhile, Rams defensive lineman William Hayes was fined $7,875 for unnecessarily striking an opponent late in last week’s 45-7 loss to New England.

Kind of strange that this is being reported now. The NFL fine system is a joke on so many levels.

The Rams (because their coach isn't bill bellacheat) were fined $20,000 by the NFL for not reporting running back Steven Jackson’s groin injury during their Week 2 of the NFL season, for a contest against Washington, league sources told the Post-Dispatch.

Because the injury was not reported, there was widespread speculation that Jackson had been benched after drawing an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. (Jackson spiked the football after a running play that he thought should have been ruled a touchdown.)

Meanwhile, Rams defensive lineman William Hayes was fined $7,875 for unnecessarily striking an opponent (who wasn't wearing a Blue and Gold # 8 jersey, and the deity otherwise known as bill bellacheat demanded the league do something about it) late in last week’s 45-7 loss to New England.
