Re: NFL Rule: Overtime
i do like the idea of each team having atleast one possesion in overtime each...it wouldnt have saved us against the Panthers a few years back..
and im doubting they would change it but personally i would.

Re: NFL Rule: Overtime
It needs to be changed. When I watch a game go into overtime, I immediately lose interest in the game. It does NOT show who the better team is. All they have to do is work their way down the field and kick a field goal.

Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: NFL Rule: Overtime
I think it's OK. If neither team can find a way to win the game in 4 quarters, then they are apparently equally matched and one is not that much better than the other, so coin flip it. You still have to go down and get a FG at least.
The rule I would like to see changed is pass interference. The college rule of 15 yards is perfect.

Re: NFL Rule: Overtime
Each team should get at least one possession until a winner is decided.

Re: NFL Rule: Overtime
No, the rule should not be changed. Statistically, the team winning the coin flip only wins half the time.
Next we'll hear people saying that it isn't fair that one team has to play into the wind or sun for the entire overtime period.

Re: NFL Rule: Overtime
lol your absolutely right, leave it alone and get on...even Colin Cowherd off espns radio gets to me when he complains of little things like how tasteless and "unfootball-like" it is to call a timeout when the games tied and a teams about to kick what could be a winning field goal...
if i could change one thing though it would be the ties..how the hell does a team TiE???...I mean i know how but the fact they let them end on that note is ridiculous.

Re: NFL Rule: Overtime
In regards to a tie, I personally agree with the fact it shouldn't happen. Under current playoff rules, there is 1 overtime. ONE! And this happens when neither team fails to outscore there opponent in the regulation four quarters, and then, fails to score AT ALL in a sudden death quarter. In my opinion, if your team sucks this bad, and your opponent sucks this bad, neither deserves a victory. Double-Losses all the way!

Re: NFL Rule: Overtime
Yes. Just keep playing additional 15 minute quarters until we get a winner. So what if the players get tired. You have 40 of them on the sideline. Just like in baseball, keep playing until there is a winner, even if it takes you all night.
