'OK' Kurt limps to doc for further review
'OK' Kurt limps to doc for further review
Kurt Warner said he felt "OK" yesterday, one day after complaining of a "weird feeling" in his left ankle, knee and quad. Still, the Giants quarterback limped out of the locker room with his left ankle and left knee heavily wrapped in ice. And he planned to see a doctor yesterday just to make sure nothing was wrong.
"I feel OK," Warner said. "I feel pretty good today, a little bit sore in the ankle and the knee, but I feel extremely fortunate that everything seems to be intact. Everything has checked out well. The structure, the strength, everything is solid."
Warner was dragged down awkwardly by Browns DE Kenard Lang in the fourth quarter Sunday. He got up limping and was checked out by the trainers. But he never came out of the game and isn't expected to miss any practice time this week.
DAYNE STRAIN: The news isn't as good for RB Ron Dayne, who is still bothered by the swollen calf that kept him out of Sunday's game. Dayne said he'll be able to practice this week, but Tom Coughlin wasn't so sure. "They're probably going to run all kinds of tests to see where that is," he said. "It was really a strange reaction. ... "It was a calf strain up until now."
DELAY OF PAIN: S Shaun Williams was scheduled to have surgery to repair the torn meniscus on his left knee yesterday, but it was postponed until Thursday, apparently because of a scheduling issue. The Giants won't know how long he'll be out until doctors can see how extensive the tear is. That makes difficult for Coughlin to decide whether to add another safety to the roster.
ON HAND: DE Michael Strahan said X-Rays on his left hand were negative and it is "fine." ... DE Keith Washington suffered a "mild concussion" on the opening kickoff return. He played two defensive series, but came out after he began throwing up on the sideline. He said he felt like he could have continued playing, but the doctors wouldn't allow it. "Maybe it was best that I didn't," Washington said, "because they know better than I do." He said the only lingering affect was a stiff neck. ... CB Frank Walker (foot) should return to practice this week.
