Patriots, Samuel miss deadline on agreement
(NFL.com, Wire reports) 7/17/07
This sets the stage for a possible hold out. Assante Samuel skipped the team's mandatory minicamp last month and has said he intends to hold out until the 10th week of the regular season.

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH please let us have him.
Re: Patriots, Samuel miss deadline on agreement
From the sounds of things, if we wanted this guy we would have to sign him to a 15 year/half a billion dollar contract. Id rather just give Bartell his day in court and if he doesnt work then we get Fakhir back after 4 games
Re: Patriots, Samuel miss deadline on agreement
If we can get him at the right price, I say GO FOR IT.
Or if there is a way we can set up his contract just right. I know Nate Clements looked to have a HUGE deal, but a ton of that money would come at the end of the deal (which turned out to be a 7 year, 63 million insted of 8 year 80 million, by the way), and he could retire before then.
Re: Patriots, Samuel miss deadline on agreement
If Fahkir was suspended for a year I'd say we should definitely give him a look and a contract that is reasonable for him and our team, however it is only 4 games and I think for the most part we have good CB depth.
Re: Patriots, Samuel miss deadline on agreement
Everyone who is saying we should get him or give him a look, that isn't going to happen, he isn't a free agent. The only way to get him is to trade for him because he is still a Patriot. I don't see the Patriots trading him. I also don't see Asante holding out and missing out on approx $450,000 per game.
