Re: Player You'd Most Want To See Flop

KW? The guy is super nice, a class act & his brother goes to church with me...interesting...(Plus he's my avatar!) I admit it, I'll root for him but obviously I wanna see the Rams get a couple of W's over his team.

Can't say I want anyone to fail, but I guess Shawn Alexander's antics last year rubbed me the wrong way, plus he's a Seahawk.

I voted for Warner. Yes Warner. Not because I don't like him, it's because they sort of scare me currently. With the WR's that they have and now a possible running game with Arrington, this team could be dangerous.

But Arrington currently has no decent back-ups, and he's a rookie. With both Shipp and Hambrick hurt, I wouldn't be too worried about AZ's running consistently. I would look for them to be a pass first offense.

To be fair, not all evil robots are killers.

I would like to see WR Keenan McCardell fail in San Diego. I am a big Kassim Osgood fan (3rd Year Chargers WR), and Osgood will not get enough chances with the 85 year old McCardell taking up space in the huddle.

I'm going with Warner. I want nothing more than too see the Cards savior play as awful as he has the past few seasons. I just really hate the Cards.

Re: Player You'd Most Want To See Flop

I had to go with Kurt Warner. Mostly, because many people think that he is going to become the player from 99-01. Maybe I am wrong, but i dont see that happening. I do recall a game once when he fumbled the ball 6-7 times. Now, He is just too nervous in the pocket. It would be pretty nice too, if his wife somehow makes a splash on the scene and tells everyone to be nice to her husband.

    61.6 Percent Completions
    13,925 Yards

    QB#1 is Tom Brady
    QB#2 is Duante Culpepper

    Get the point?

Since you seem so into stats (Peyton Manning anyone? I voted for him, BTW) how's this:

    Rings on Brady's finger: 3.

    Rings on Culpepper's finger: 0.

    Typical Patriot logic.

The Patriots have won three Super Bowls with Tom Brady at QB.

    Does that mean:

    a. They won because Tom Brady was the starter; or
    b. They won simultaneously with Tom Brady's time as the starter.

    Here's a clue:

How many of these QBs are or will be Hall of Famers? Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Jeff Hostetler, Mark Rypien, Jim Plunkett.

Re: Player You'd Most Want To See Flop

The point I was trying to make is stats don't mean everything. If Brady led a team to three Super Bowls, including 2 MVP awards (and that's just up to now - he's still fairly young) the Hall of Fame voters will undoubtedly, and justifiably make the comparision to Joe Montana and bring him into the Hall. I just don't see Culpepper going in. You have to be great. Winning the Super Bowl three times is much different than leading your team to one or two in an entire career. The XXXVI drive as essentially a rookie will earn him some regard as well.

Tom Brady couldn't hold the proverbial jock strap of Dan Marino or Dan Fouts, and neither of them ever won the big one.

That's the problem with Brady. He's a very good QB, but he's vastly overrated.

How so? He can throw the long ball with the best of him (of course you'll argue this but you've never seen him throw it. He's right on the money every time without the receiver breaking stride. He did it countless times last year)

He is one of the most accurate passers in the NFL. I don't think one can argue that.

He doesn't throw too many interceptions.

He doesn't have a favorite receiver, and spreads the ball perfectly.

His pocket presence is unmatched. 2 guys could be rushing him from behind and the sides, and without panicking he'll just calmnly slide and still throw a perfect pass.

His intangibles as well. He might be the most poised quarterback in the league, and he can read defenses and pick them apart like they're nothing.

And while he does that, he makes excellent decisions on where to throw the ball. If he notices one little bite by a safety, he can fire a deep ball to a receiver without hesitation, and make an extremely accurate pass.

Dink-dink you say? He threw the least percentage of short passes in the league last year and threw the most medium/long passes.

    And oh yeah:

    x3.

    Super Bowl MVP:

    x2.

    That's something Marino doesn't have.

Is he near Marion yet? No.

But he still has a long way to go in his career.
