Pop-ups??
What is going on with the pop-ups?
Is the premium membership not bringing in enough money to keep the site going?
I am not complaining, but just wondering.

Re: Pop-ups??
This site cost a lot of money to run and the premium membership contributions don't cover very much. Dez must be trying new ads to add some revenue.

Re: Pop-ups??
20:42 Pacific time and I just had another pop-up.... I had thought they went away. It was an American Express banner ad which simply enlarges itself and then goes away when one clicks into a thread.
Small thing to put up with for the privilege of accessing this site.Last edited by ramsanddodgers; -10-14-2007 at 12:48 AM.

Re: Pop-ups??
I thought this through, and I am wondering if you that are seeing pop-ups might not have some nasty little adware you picked up while surfing. While I am not a computer nerd, my father-in-law is...and I have picked up one or two things from both him and that associate's degree in programming I earned.
First, if you don't already have these programs, download Spybot-S&D and Ad-Aware. Both are free programs, and I have used them for years without issue. After you run them both (plan on it taking a long time, especially if you never used them before), download SpywareBlaster. Run the program, (make sure you update it) then close it out. After this, download AVG Antispyware Free, and Windows Defender. Both of these are also free, and they will help you keep your computer free of those little nasties.
Also download NoAds. It works well to stop those pop-ups from places like "X-10" and sites you don't want your kids and grandparents to see.
Lastly - if you are running Windows XP, IE7 has a pop-up blocker built into it. Firefox does too, but I don't trust the newer versions - the last two updates have "phone home" spyware built in that reports your surfing habits.
I hope this helps.Super Bowl Champions 2013!
