Question to neutral fans

Would you rather have Jay Cutler of the Denver Broncos or Philip Rivers of the San Diego Chargers leading your team?

Phillip Rivers. He's lead his team deep into the play offs.

I'm a little too neutral for this one. Haven't seen either play more than a game or two, certainly not enough to judge fairly.

Rivers has a very good team around him both on offense and defense and yet hasn't been able to get to the big game.

I'll take Cutler...I think he has more guts and savy.

Re: Question to neutral fans

After watching Cutler completely fall apart and practically break into tears last year on MNF as a result of being taunted by Rivers, the choice for me is easy.

Re: Question to neutral fans

I was never a big fan of Philip Rivers, but watching him play in the playoffs last year impressed me. He's a tough son of a gun and will do what it takes to win, so there is some respect now. That said, I'd still take Cutler over Rivers. I like Cutler's arm, "moxy," and his mobility fits well with the Denver offense - I think one day he'll be a perennial Pro Bowler.

Re: Question to neutral fans

I picked Cutler. Just reminds me of a gunslinger. Does whatever he can to try to help his team. Rivers? Surrounded by talent and just doesn't seem to make his team any better.

Re: Question to neutral fans

Hmm, tough choice; almost a coin flip. But if I have to choose, I'll say Cutler. He's more mobile, and is working with less of a supporting cast.

Re: Question to neutral fans

Rivers, definately.

Playing with a torn ACL in the AFC Championship Game, he still kept SD in that game for a long time. Not to mention LT didn't play and Gates played the whole game through injury to. With some better luck Rivers may very well have taken the Chargers to the SB last year.

On the flipside, Cutler has lost all four times against Rivers, and IMO, even cost Denver a playoff spot in the 2006 season.

Re: Question to neutral fans

I'm neutral and don't wish to vote but here are the two QB's career stats as starters. I deliberately left out the name of which QB is which but you can figure that out on your own.

To make a more informative choice, you can look at these closer to decide who is more efficient at what and who is in the red and who is in the black. (some key points to consider when making your QB vote on this poll).

As starters (again I wont mention any names) one of the quarterbacks above is in the red, while the other is in the black:

QB B Rating 94.4 to 82.8 (negative 12 notches) from 1st to 2nd half.
QB A Rating 83.9 to 91.1 (positive 7.2 notches) from 1st to 2nd half.

QB B Rating 96.9 to 68.9 (negative 28 notches) from 1st to 4th qtr
QB A Rating 76.6 to 86.3 (positive 9.7 notches) from 1st to 4th qtr

QB B's 78.7 Rating vs QB A 100.2 (negative 21.5 notches) head-to-head 2 min. half rating

QB B Rating 95.4 to 82.0 (negative 13.4 notches) from ahead vs behind
QB A Rating 88.8 to 91.1 (positive 2.3 notches) from ahead vs behind

Trivia Question:

Which QB would you choose?

(Scene 1). There are two QB's that had success but also made mistakes in their 1st 10 games of 2007, one more than the other, one with a 76.5 rating and the other with a 90.4 rating (on account of 3 less Ints and a higher completion ration with slightly more yards), but both with equal number of TD's equal amount of scoring, requiring almost nearly the same passing yards per point scored (YPPS). Both QB's (with help from their teammates) go 5-5 (.500) for their first 10 games played.

(Scene 2). Both QB's head into week 12 5-5 (.500) with a wide open shot at the AFC West and a trip to the playoffs. And here's where it begins...(lights..camera...ACTION !)...

One of the QB's (and I won't mention his record) week 12-17 posted a passer rating of 87.0 (dropping a full 3.4 notches from his first 10 games) with a + 2 TD ratio (TD's - Ints + L/Fum), and required exactly 22.46 yards per point scored (YPPS) and propelled his team into a losing season.

The other QB (and I won't mention his record either) week 12-17 posted a passer rating of 93.0 (increasing his rating by 16.5 notches from his first 10 games) with a + 6 TD ratio (TD's - Ints + L/Fum), and required exactly 15.71 yards per point scored (YPPS) and propelled his team into the playoffs.

Which Quarterback Would you chose, which Quarterback would you want?

Hint: QB A went to the playoffs, QB B did not, QB A posted a winning season QB B did not.

You would pick Cutler because Rivers comes across as immature right?

I guess I set myself up for that one didn't I?

Immature is such a.........strong word ramsbruce. I see Rivers more as exuberant, passionate and interactive.

I actually should have never responded to this thread since I have a long history as a Bolt fan, but while I'm not neutral, I am objective of course.
