Quote of the Year....
This was buried at the end of the Pasquarelli article about Delhomme's new contract, but I thought it deserved some attention.
"When I see guys huddling up after the game, to pray, that's what scares me about the game. I'm a Baptist, but I'm also a quarterback killer, and I ain't praying with you. But I will give you 30 seconds to ask your Lord and master to keep me from killing you." -- Hall of Fame defensive end "Deacon" Jones on what aspect of the modern game most upsets him.
We need more defensive players with this kind of attitude!

Yodude, are you lobbying for the most controversial title in the current awards voting by endorsing a statement that some on this board might view as anti-religion?
just curious, not criticising.

Re: Quote of the Year....
Not at all!
I was one of Warner's most vocal supporters throughout the debates...I still am, just not as vocal about it...and I thought that all the religious crap that invaded the topic was, well, just that...crap.
My personal opinion on the subject is that for the good of the locker-room....Warner should have toned down the religion...but I would never criticise him for it, that would go against my belief that anyone should be able to live their lives however they choose (as long as they are not hurting anyone, of course).
Allthough everyone will deny it to their graves...I really believe that Warner's religious zeal definitely eroded support for him among his teammates and the coaching staff.

I wish it was an election...I feel confident in saying that if that were the case, the outcome would have been different! It almost sounds like an election more than football.

Well, the campaigning certainly would have been interesting.
