Re: Realignment Proposal
2 south superbowl reps possibly? Won't work. I was hearing on the radio about something similar where if the NFC teams weren't that good only AFC teams should represent.
Maybe a West vs East type of alignment might work out better. Give it that East and West coast rivalry flavor.

Re: Realignment Proposal
Why not just have a 32 team league where the best 8 teams go to the playoffs? I think the 10-6 Chiefs from 05(as well as a multitude of others) would agree. No team from the NFC West really deserves to go this year. Sure, some teams wouldn't play against some other teams but that's when they would meet in the playoffs. Schedules would be based on the previous year's record. Reduce the number of games in the preseason as well. 5 is way too many. Make it 3 tops.

Re: Realignment Proposal
Honestly, I've though about how I would change it, and I really can't see any way better than the way it is. Maybe some tweaks here and there, but I think an overhaul would be relatively unsuccessful.
Dividing all the teams into two conferences with every team would destroy alot of the rivalries that exist and new ones would be slower to form because teams only face each other once. I also think it could get boring, facing the same 15 teams year after year. Personally, I like the variety that comes with facing different divisions every year
Even though the current setup is a little screwed up because an 8-8 team could take a spot while a 9-7 one could get left out, I think it really puts pressure on teams to win their divisions and make sure they'll clench a berth, which adds to the rivalry factor and makes division games extremely important.
Football is fun to watch for its own sake, but it's always nice to have a little something extra to pique our interests.

Re: Realignment Proposal
Your breaking up way to many rivalries. Us and the whiners for one, then Chiefs vs Raiders, Broncos vs Raiders, Cowboys vs Giants. The NFL would never accept that.
