It's true, the Seahawks are in need of a receiver who can hold onto the ball, especially with Bobby Engram hurt and Koren Robinson likely to be suspended for smoking weed. I hope he'll do OK out of the slot.

Put yourself in a GM's shoes and ask yourself what you would give up to get Jerry Rice, a 42-year-old receiver who may retire after this season. You're getting him for, what, ten or eleven games? Do you really want to spend a lot here? There's no guarantee that he'll play another season, or that he's even still a good weapon. Maybe there was a reason he wasn't getting used as much in Oakland.

There's no maybe about it. I have a buddy at work who's a huge Raiders' fan. We were discussing the trade today and he told me that the fact is that every other receiver that the Raiders have is a more viable weapon at this point than Rice.
