Sometimes you just gotta stop the bleeding...even if you have to cut off your hand to save the arm! If we could get him as a consultant this year and make him DC next year I could live with that. You have to start somewhere!

Heck...some are already looking at low draft choices as a result of this year. I don't think we are out of it yet, but, I don't think we'll go very far if at all in the playoffs anyway.

Of course, that would be a tough ego pill to swallow for Wanny, but, I think he just choked a big one down!

I think it would be a tougher pill for Martz to swallow, for the franchise to bring in a guy that just resigned (and would have been fired the way some talk) to shore up a defense run by your buddy.

I think this offseason will tell a lot about who is calling the shots at Rams Park. If Marmie returns for a 2nd season, then I'd say it's pretty obvious that Martz gets whatever he wants. However, if Marmie is launched at the first window of opportunity, Martz may be on a shorter leash than we think.

That's an interesting argument about bringing in Wannstedt midseason. At this point I don't see how he could make things worse so I hope we do sign him as soon as possible.

Are there roots in the family tree connecting Dave to the Rams? I don't think we really have much of a shot at getting him but I feel it in my bones that having him would put the Rams over the top and counter-balance Martz to the benefit of the team.

I've found a connection. In 1981 & 1982, Jimmy Johnson was the head coach at Oklahoma St. The DC for that team was Wannstedt. The RB coach was Frank Falks, currently the Rams TE coach. From '83-'85, both Wannstedt and Falks coached for Ted Tollner at USC, DW as D-line coach and Falks as RB coach.

It's a connection...a weak & obscure connection, but a connection none the less.
