Former Rams head coach Mike Martz is scheduled to interview Friday in New Orleans for the Saints' vacant head-coaching job, according to league sources.
Martz was contacted by the Saints last week to gauge his interest in the job. The Saints held informal talks with some candidates last week, but began the formal interviewing process this week.
New York Jets defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson completed his interview on Tuesday. Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Maurice Carthon is in New Orleans today and is to be followed by Dallas assistant head coach Sean Payton, former Green Bay head coach Mike Sherman and then Martz on Friday.
One of them could be the replacement for the ousted Jim Haslett, who has been interviewed by Detroit and the Jets for their vacant head-coaching jobs.
Martz could not be reached to comment Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Rams interim head coach Joe Vitt left St. Louis on Tuesday to interview with the Jets. Vitt is also believed to be drawing interest from two or three other clubs for their head-coaching jobs.

The interviews have begun. I wonder if Vitt will get to be a HC so soon.
