Al Saunders will be interviewed as a candidate for offensive coordinator in the near future, a Raiders team source confirmed.
Saunders was most recently with the St. Louis Rams, but lost his job along with much of Scott Linehan’s staff following the season. Saunders was offensive coordinator in Kansas City from 2001 through 2005 and with the Washington Redskins in 2006 and 2007.
He runs a downfield “Air Coryell” passing game favored by Al Davis and is known for having a huge playbook _ meaning JaMarcus Russell will have his work cut out for him if Saunders is running the offense.
Saunders has interviewed with the Raiders as a head coaching candidate in previous coaching searches.

Jamarcus Russell better hire a tutor to help memorize the infamous 700 page playbook that Saunders carries around.
