Schefter Reignites Willis McGahee Trade Rumors
Pulled from the Baltimore Ravens' website blog.
We’re heading into the third week of the season, and the running back Willis McGahee trade rumors persist.
This time Adam Schefter stirred the pot during ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown,” a couple hours before the start of yesterday’s Ravens-Bengals matchup.
It all started when Schefter said the Green Bay Packers were interested in Bills running back Marshawn Lynch after losing their own starting back, Ryan Grant, to an ankle injury for the season.
Continuing on, the ESPN analyst said McGahee would be another option for the Packers because the Ravens are offering him to “anyone” for a draft pick. Schefter did not specify how high the pick would have to be.
In August, Baltimore Sun’s Jamison Hensley speculated that the Ravens’ growing confidence in Jalen Parmele was one reason the team would be willing to part with McGahee.
“McGahee’s salary — $3.6 million in what will surely be the last year of his deal — also makes McGahee a trade candidate, but tougher to move,” added ProFootballTalk.com’s Gregg Rosenthal last month.
McGahee is carrying on as usual. In fact, McGahee is doing his part in promoting a “blackout” (benefiting his foundation) by asking fans to flood M&T Bank Stadium with black towels and black t-shirts, per The Sun.
